Ruby Skye P.I. Announces Launch Date

Toronto – October 8, 2010 Digital creator Jill Golick confirmed today that her much-anticipated web series for Tweens, RUBY SKYE P.I., will debut free on its pending official website on October 25, 2010. The first of twelve installments of “The Spam Scam” (written by Jill Golick and Julie Strassman-Cohn) will introduce young web fans to self-declared teen detective Ruby Skye (played by Toronto’s own Madison Cheeatow) – and her colorful if kook, digitally-savvy world – as she plunges head-first into a fun-riddled mystery designed to expose the dangers of engaging strangers via email.

Until the 25th of October, the current Ruby Skye P.I. Production Blog will be brimming with exciting new pre-show content — with two new trailers scheduled to appear, guest-directors’ behind-the-scenes videos, participation in Blog Action Day, and loads of brand new images of the cast and articles about what to look forward to from the series all in the works to build to the final countdown.

Once launched, the series’ creator-owned official website will post two brand new installments each week until its exciting finale in early December. Custom-designed by local web designer Lucia Mancuso of The Blog Studio, the site will also offer loads of extra content for kids, their classrooms and their families to enjoy: peeks behind the scenes, additional videos, an online game, a brownie bake-off, and educational, interactive information on the social issues and ideas in the series are all to be key features in the evolution of this exciting transmedia project.

Shot on location in Toronto, Ontario this past summer, RUBY SKYE P.I. is a 100% Canadian production featuring some of Toronto’s finest local film, television & digital talent. One of the first original webseries to win investment from the Independent Production Fund, the project is made possible by combining the support of sponsoring corporations, local small businesses and the personal investments of dozens of local artists and digital craftspeople. As a result of its diverse communities’ support and active social media presence, RUBY SKYE P.I. already enjoys a highly-engaged following well in advance of its official launch: via Facebook, Twitter and its creator-driven behind-the-scenes blog, sharing the making of the show has resulted in a vocally devoted fan-base of all ages, well in advance of the webseries & site’s debut.

Aimed at kids ages 8 through 14, Ruby Skye P.I. is one element of an impressive cross-platform project intended to entertain, engage and educate kids online around the world. Ruby Skye P.I. the brain-child of Canada’s pioneering transmedia creator, Story2.OH’s Jill Golick (HAILEY HACKS, CRUSHING IT, BOYMEETSGRRL) and represents a dazzling collaboration of local community, corporate, and creative partners — all keen to see Canadian talent lead the way in excellent online content for young people.
